World's Biggest Online Coffee Morning

macmillanOn 29th September 2017 Language Learners Journal is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support’s Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning‘. The world’s leading polyglots and avid language learners from around the globe are getting together to raise awareness and money for people who are affected by cancer.

We have already had our very own mini-online coffee morning on Tuesday 29th August. Nearly 20 different languages were written and spoken during the event, which was amazing! However, we have a target of over 50 different languages to be spoken or written within our group. Our deadline for this challenge has now been extended to 11.59pm on Friday 29th September 2017

What is Macmillan?

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest charities in the UK and provides specialist health care information and financial support to people affected by cancer.

As well as helping with the medical needs of people affected by cancer, Macmillan also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have not just for those diagnosed, but the families too.
The first ever Macmillian Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990 with the idea that guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan. The process was so effective, the charity did it again the next year – only this time nationally. Since then, the annual Coffee Morning has raised over £165.5 million for the charity.
