你好, hello there, I’m Trisha (艾玛 – 派翠西 邓巴)
Founder of Language Learners Journal Ltd and Co-Founder of the Parleremo Language Marathon. I’m a certificated TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) tutor, inspirational speaker, mindfulness practitioner, professional blogger, writer, and award-winning entrepreneur from the UK!
I sucked at learning new things at school, but then one day I started to make real progress with my learning. The teachers made me redo my work under close supervision thinking I was cheating!
However, they soon realized that the progress was coming directly from me. I went from being the bottom of the class needing support to the top of the class supporting others!
So how did I go from struggling learner to making real progress almost overnight?
I started to take a more mindful approach to my learning. This included introducing simple mindfulness practices to my daily study routine and developing positive thinking strategies. This improved my focus and attention span. As a result, I became a more disciplined learner that achieved set goals.
Now I want to help other language learners become more focused, motivated and successful at achieving their goals. That’s why I created Language Learners Journal Ltd and co-founded the Parleremo Language Marathon.
Today, I have an academic background in psychology, not linguistics. So I am approaching language learning from a fresh perspective.
My mission is to empower others to learn new skills, especially languages! Whilst sharing my own experiences and language learning goals too. I do not consider myself to be polyglot, but rather a ‘polynot’. As long as I can order cake and coffee in my target language then I am happy!
Languages studied: Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Dutch, Icelandic, Italian, Slovenian (Slovene) & British Sign Language (BSL).
Currently studying: Dutch and Chinese Mandarin.
