So May is going to be an exciting and busy month for me, YAY! I am taking part in the Step Up Language Program, #SULP and will be tackling Mandarin Chinese & Icelandic for the next 3 months. I will also be working on my side project Positively Productive, looking at how positive psychology can be incorporated into language learning.
Last Month’s Goals:
- 28-day Icelandic Challenge - Completed and I can now do basic greetings. I spent the first couple of weeks searching for some awesome resources, but unfortunately, I could not really find anyone to talk too in Icelandic. Although I did receive lots of positive motivation and encouragement from the language learning communities. I am really grateful for the support so thank you!
- I launched my own little business coaching motivation, self-esteem and confidence building online. I am still offering 20-minute motivational sessions online - pro-bono. So if you are interested, get in touch.
Also this month I am super excited to announce that I am launching my own little language learning business. I will be supporting newbie language learners via positive and cognitive psychology techniques. Sometimes we forget how to learn or the techniques we use are not efficient for us. When something does not work we run the risk of giving up. I will not let that happen, no way.
As it’s a brand new business I will be offering 20 minute motivational 1-1s on Skype pro-bono!!! For more information please pro-bono!!! For more information please contact me, but there are only a limited amount of spaces.
Lesson Learnt
Having a more positive mindset really does help when learning languages, It also seems to be reflected out so other people respond to it as well and become more motivated.

this positive psychology is really interesting! Do you feel any positive side effects on your day-to-day life? I mean: learning a new language using positive psychology also makes you more happy when you’re not spending time on learning a new language?

Hi Akita. My belief is that the only person to be better than is yourself. I try to be a better person everyday and a positive mindset really helps with this. I find I actually get more support and make more progress when thinking positively and this applies to all areas of my life. I have found that sometimes negative feelings act like road blocks and hinder personal development. Thank you for reading my post. 🙂
